New benchrest rookie. Used rifle bought, questions

Mike

Now then, if you havn't already, thouroughly clean the barrel. Use a good bore guide such as a TK Nolan, Mike Lucas, etc., good solvent, a bronze brush, and proper patches. For patches it will be good to use 1-1/8 or 1-3/8 patches to apply solvent, then brush, then use 1-3/4 patches to patch out.

This should be done after every 15 rounds or so. Shooting for weeks and not cleaning like you did with the off-the-shelf guns will not get you the best results here.

An, 0.087" group, WOW, feels good doesn't it.

Yes it did feel good

This is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. I have no illusions that the gun can outshoot the guy pulling the trigger;).

I have cleaned the barrel and have always cleaned my rifles while at the bench or as soon as I arrive home.

What a smooth barrel. You can sure feel the difference from a factory barrel when running a patch. I was very careful cleaning using my Stoney Point bore guide and Dewey rod. I used some undersized patches to make sure it did not deflect the rod.

A Lucas bore guide is on the way. I have used Butches Bore Shine and have always had good results. Gun was patched clean, patched dry and then good oil applied to the barrel and lugs.

Mike.
