New Barrel Blank...Cut Off Ends

How much do you cut off the ends of a new barrel blank before starting the chambering and crowning process?
Weight is not a concern, I can keep it as long as possible.

If you indicate the throat, cut one inch off the breech. On the muzzle end slug it and cut and crown the tight spot.

Just To Add

I believe all barrel makers say to cut at least 1 inch from the muzzle end. Some used to even put a cut line, which was 1 inch back.
On tapers where I am uisng the maximum taper, such as a HV, I cut about 1/2 inch from the chamber end, just to save the stamped end........jackie
