Thats the new easy break tab. Bend it for a shorter action length. Or to make weight.

I surely thought ive seen it on blued actions as well. Mainly newer adl actions.

I have 2 new 700 stainless BDL's for builds in the shop. Both have the cut. A new ADL matte does not.

Remington uses it to visibly ID an action variation. I believe Ultra Mag's.

ultra mags have UM on bottom of front ring. only seen this on SS actions

Its done to indicate its a stainless action after heat treating.

I have seen the same as gundoc. The 2 stainless actions in the shop now one is a 25-06 the other is a 270 and both have the cut.
