Need gunsmith near Indiana, PA for type 38 conversion

Hello,

I was gifted a half sporterized type 38 in 6.5x50 from my great uncle for my son. I do reloading and made up some loads for the rifle and during the shoot realized that the expansion in the cartridge was pretty noticeable. After some research online I discovered that this is common in type 38's. I also read that one way to help get rid of that problem is to convert it to a different chambering that would utilize the slack. I was thinking of having it reamed out to 6.5x55, another cartridge i already load for, but I'm having a hard time finding a gunsmith that can do this. Does anyone know of anyone near the Indiana, PA - Johnstown, PA area that could do this job? Not looking for a new barrel just reaming out what's there to the larger Swede. Thanks.

I would do a 260 Remington. The 6.5 x 50 is a semi rimmed case, the rim is actually a few thousandths smaller than the standard .473, and about .010 smaller than the rim on a 6.5 x 55. The bolt face might have to be opened up a tad.

One problem is removing the barrel. Some years back, I tried to remove one and could not get it to budge.

I'm definitely open to .260 Remington. It's a good cartridge with solid ballistics. Didn't know that about the barrel. Still would be open to at least trying it if there is someone that would do it. Never did this before so I'm not sure what all goes into rechamberings. I've only done reloading and building on old bubba'd guns while keeping the same caliber.
