Need a rest for Feinwerkbau 2700

The good news is: my Feinwerkbau finally came in and I picked it up last Friday. The bad news is: after ordering it, I realy screwed up my shoulder and surgery wasn't as successful as I'd hoped for.

Consequently, since I don't want to wait a year (according to the doctor) to recover, I need someway of shooting this thing off the bench.

I know nothing about rests, but figured this forum would have the people with the most knowledge. So what should I get, and where do I get it?

A rather subjective question as some prefer one piece rests and some separate front and rear. Also depends on the competition you are planning on attending as rules vary a tad. So if possible I would advise you to get together with some acquaintances that have both types in order to compare. At that point it becomes a pocket book issue. Price range from simplistic under $100 ( front and rear sandbag) to full mechanical rests up to $1k. MFG listed under rests ( on this board) all make good units.

Thanks for your response. I'm not planning on competition. I just want to shoot this rifle, and a few others (no high power stuff) off the bench, and I want some fairly high degree of quality. I think I want a one piece rest because I've seen others use them over the years and was impressed. Unfortunately, I didn't understand the part of your post about MFG on this board. I looked around, but couldn't find it. Can you point me in the right direction?

Not quite sure how I got into the forum, but it wasn't through the home page. I found it, now to do some reading - thanks.

Not sure if everyone knows he's talking about a position rifle that has a stock that will not work well with one of our one piece rests. (Look up a picture of this rifle) I suggest that you go with a Hart front rest with sand bag and a rear sand bag rest. You could spend a lot of money on a one piece like the Pappas and find out that it won't work for you.

I am acquainted with the style rifle having been a position shooter for 30 years.
I have used various position rifles in benchrest of various ages with various rests. Even the alum. stocks can be used with just a tad of creativity. Heck there are people using AR platforms as well. The gentleman who started the thread asked about rests in general not necessarily specific to benchrest competition. I assumed he might be looking in that direction. FWB 2700 is a great unit, might be even a little better than the annies (I can feel the flames already) Just the support is a little lacking here state side and they are a tad more cost wise than the annies. Mr Pappas has modified his unit in the past to accept bags in the front, and some modification in the rear to make it more universal could possibly be arranged. This only one style there are several others available.

IT JUST SO HAPPENS i AM LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE RIFLES, HAVING TRIED ONE OUT AT A JUNIOR MATCH.

I HAVE BEEN SHOOTING SMALLBORE FOR SOME TIME AND HAVE THE OLDER CLASSIC RIFLES AND I WANT4ED A NEW ONE. NOT TOO MANY DEALERS IN THE STATES AND BACK-ORDER IS THE BIG PROBLEM. I WILL SETTLE FOR A USED ONE.

I understand its a long shot, but please shoot me a reply rapidfire10ring@hotmail.com BT

For just shooting

some of the Caldwell rests aren't bad BUT if one expects some reliable accuracy I would pay a bit more for something better. There are a number out there that are reasonable in price, Dan Greenlaw's, for instance.

Princi,
James shop is in south Ft Worth. He makes top quality products and knows an awful lot about rimfire rifles. How would you compare it to a Bleiker?
