NBRSA Nationals in Phoenix

Shooters

Registration so far is way off. I have late thursday evening the 11th; 105 signed up. I am sure there are shooters coming that haven't sent in their registration yet. If you are coming please send your registration ASAP. If you are coming and can't send it in, please email me at onehole149@aol.com and let me know. The closer we get to the match date the more difficult it is to accommodate bench/rotation requests.

Thanks

Gary,
Don't you love running a match. At the IBS Nationals this year we had 100 signed up two weeks before. Well we ended up with 148 in one class. That is a 50% increase that we did not expect. It is funny how the guy who did not sign up was upset he could not get a flag rotation they wanted when they arrived at range unannounced!!!!!!! Makes it awful hard to figure out how much toilet paper to have on hand, along with other items needed to keep the shooters happy. Thank God we carry lots of extra toilet paper knowing that benchrest shooters are so full of ----.

In other words shooters if you are going and did not preregister, call even if the match starts tomorrow, it helps those of us that run these matches. And keeps us from wanting to NOT run matches.

Gary and Jim AMEN!!

Although I have never run a bench rest shoot I have run dozens of large skeet tournments; state championships for different states, Armed Forces Championships etc. The efforts involved with a large skeet tournment is very similiar to a 5 day bench rest shoot. It is much better for shoot management to have a good idea of how many shooters will be attending the shoot at least two weeks, and hopefully a month in advance of a big shoot. The same is true for small shoots, although it may be a two or three day shoot, because the margin for profitabilty is so much closer. It is amazing how much better the event turns out for the shooters -- and how much easier it is for management to coordinate support personnel, food, targets, and gobs of other details with advanced registration. Almost as important is for shooters to provide timely information about canceling attendance thus giving managment time to juggle, rotations, flag assignments, etc. While emergencies do occur and no notice can be given, most of us can pick up the phone or e mail that we will not be at a shoot. Since I have been shooting bench rest (2002) I have made an effort to find out how many shooters preregistered versus the number of shooters that attended. I then observed how well shoot mangement and thier staff performed during the shoot. It has never failed to amaze me how well mangement and staff conducts all our shoots (large and small) given the lack of respect and communications they received from us shooters. I (and a few others) have made an effort to express sincere appreciation to management, and thier staff, for thier efforts and expense (because many times small shoots break even at best) - before leaving the shoot - even when I bolt out as soon as posssible after my last relay. :D My hats off to all you shoot management guys !!!!!! :D MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!

Gary, I intend to shoot the HV aggregate (Fri-Sat). I went to the NBRSA website but can't find an entry form. Where should I be looking?
Thanks,
German
