My trip to the range will never be the same ... at least for the next year or so.
If you've been watching CNN, FOX News, etc., you've probably seen the news of a plane hitting a building in Austin, TX.
I live in Northwest Austin and drive within 25 paces of the crash site every time I head for the Austin Rifle Club. In fact, I drove by it yesterday on my way to the range. I would never have thought yesterday a troubled individual would deliberately fly a plane into a building I pass by almost every other day.
Apparently, Joe Stack, the pilot, felt he was entitled to a free ride when it came to paying his taxes and was disgruntled because he was being asked to pay his fair share. This is a great country with many types of infrastructure, infrastructure that makes our lives comfortable. It's a shame that one individual would put so many lives at risk because he didn't want to share the costs of comfort with the rest of us.
What is it that Forrest Gump said? "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates ... you never know what you're going to get." My piece of chocolate, for the immediate future, is going to be a momentary look at an improbable crash and reconstruction site, every time I make my way to the range.
