So the hole in front of the trigger guard had a sling attachment? The rifle is supposed to be in the 2015 Gun Digest that will come out this summer.

Yes, the hole in the front of the trigger guard is for a sling attachment. Nearly all of the Gew.98's I've seen have them.
And I'll keep an eye out for that Gun Digest this summer. That Rigby absolutely should grace the pages of a publication or two.
