My great good fortune :)

Whilst driving back from the range this evening I spied what I thought to be a Serpantine belt lying on the paved shoulder of the road. I turned and went back to investigate.

Sure enough, it was a Serpantine belt, completely intact. looked like it had been thrown off the pulleys because of a bad idler or the like. I gathered it up and strowed it on the Passengers side floor well.

I have been dragging my feet on replacing the belt on my South Bend for whatever reason but NOW, the find will thrust me forward to do the deed. Life is good :)

That's great Pete.

However, is the air conditioning pump been removed from your SB? That will make a difference on the size of the belt.

I know the SB air conditioning pumps lasted for many years, but when they went, it is really hard to find a replacement.

Just Google AC pumps for an old SB and nothing comes up. I would check carefully and make sure it is going to fit.

Good find though..................I wish I could find something like that on the hiway......................most everything I find is dead beyond use.........

Jim, Here in Maine it is always so cold we discontinued the use of our AC's many years ago. The fit won't be a problem because we have never used the AC on our machines :)
