My finished rifle

not cooling

Sebastion, Thanks for your reply to a very small b benchrest shooter. Until I can attend a real Benchrest event to learn firsthand, I and many like me are learning what we can from this forum. My thought on venting is to avoid an insulated area next to the stock. The rifle looks like it could cool global warming!! Wow!

Bryce & Roger, many thanks. I will try to do my best at the SS.

realm-aw, I also a very small benchrest b benchrest shooter. As long as we love to learn, nothing cannot be done. But, of course we must understand our own limitations/weaknesess and so on.
I think again, sorry my English is not good, I think in Indonesian and translate it to English, so many times it's not match/right....maybe my last question should be, how many degree outdoor air can reduce/cooling down a hot barrel within a short time --- instead of how many degree of temp etc....I'm not sure which one is right/better question....basically I just would like to say like that...comparing between common/normal stock and stock w/ some venting/opening. I don't think the difference is big.

Seb -That's exactly how all this Benchrest stuff started.

It takes a lot of skill to take an idea and make it reality .
Impressive -now go shooting !

LOL. I still cannot shoot the rifle at this time being...I just imagine it from here, lol...but I will be a bit relax after May 16 and then focusing my mind on the match.

Thanks, seb.

Do not worry about cooling the barrel the last three days this week at Kelbly's, yesterday I had on a work shirt, sweat shirt, jacket, and rain coat. Then I stayed in the trailer, turned brass and puttered all day.

Don't worry Seb, your rifle stayed inside on the cleaning cradle covered with a clean warm towel all day.

Do not forget to bring your jacket Seb. Temp now is, 50f and rain today. In Ohio talk, that is "It's just not nice out."
