It's that time of the year again to start planning your trip over to jonesville, va. To shoot in the mountain man rifle match. Really who doesn't want to walk away with arm loads of donated prizes from top suppliers in the shooting industry. You know what if you manage to hit that little dot more than some you can walk away with a nice little stash of cash to help you along. So jump on over to www.mountainmanshoot.com and check out our sponsors page, match information, as well as an opportunity to register which isn't required, and of course some pictures from the past. Don't let those silly faces fool ya their good shooters and even bigger eaters. Just can't resist that good food served for you when you dawn the bench at the Mountain Man Shoot. I can guarantee a good time and plenty of prizes for everyone.

In the pics on the range web site I don't see any wind flags. Are they allowed?

.

yes, absolutely. It will be run just like a UBR match, the exception being that their are no separate classes. Of course, I'm answering for Robert, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. I know I am about the flags.

Rick

Correct

Rick is correct you can use wind flags. He was also correct about classification. Thanks Rick

For this match, what does a first time visitor need to bring? I will be coming preloaded.

What do I need? Stool, cleaning table, etc. At shoots I normally attend I don't use a range box, etc. All my stuff is in the camper. I will be bringing the usual bench setup stuff like front rest, rear bag, etc.

What else? The reason I am asking, I see by your web site pics of everyone's loading boxes, tables, stuff like that..

Jerry,
Although I've been to the Rocky Road Range, I've not shot the Mountain Man before. I've never needed a cleaning table as there are several tables available, but if you have a small one it wouldn't be a terrible idea. It will depend on how many show up for the match. Other than that, bench setup, stool and flags should do it. An extra roll of TP for the outhouse could be a welcome addition ;)

Thanks Rick. As to TP I usually use my old targets. The holes are far enough apart to not be a problem.

You going Dan H?

.

That is my intention. Ron Jackson and I are going up tomorrow afternoon.

Rick

See you there, be nice to see you and Ron again. I sent Sharrett a PM also an email this a.m. asking if he wanted to share a bench, he responded with two question neither answering my question. Go figure

Dan you sent me an email about 10AM. I answered it before 1 PM.

Jerry there should be plenty of room for you to put your stuff there are tables and benches that can be used both setting and standing. There are 12 concrete benches. More than welcome to bring a stool but there are chairs in case you don't want too. The only thing I can think of would be tall wind flag poles for 200 yards as it is a stair step type range. And of course a empty stomach for breakfast we will be having biscuits&gravy with sausage. For lunch we will have boneless pork chops, stuffing, potato salad, and cole slaw.

First time to the Mountain Man Rifle Match, it was a lot of fun. Food was great, match was well run, benches are real nice and well spaced, scenery is fantastic. Thanks to Danny Hensley for building such a nice range and to Robert Brockman for putting together a great shoot, with a lot of real nice door prizes. If you ever attend one of the matches you will understand the name = Rocky Road Rifle Range.;) Also a big thanks to all the vendors that donated items for the drawing.

Everything Dan said doubled. It was great to see some old friends I haven't shot with in a while and meet some new ones. Thanks to Dallas Walker and Jay Fruth for making the long drive down from Ohio, hope to see you guys next year at one of your matches.

A really well run, challenging and fun shoot!

That UBR target is designed so the shooter must develop a strategy to best shoot it.

Thanks Robert and Danny.

Rick who was there with Indiana plates? I didn't circulate much because I can't recognize facial features anymore at much distance especially in dim light like under a roof with bright light outside. I introduced myself to Danny to which he said he had been to my house!! Bad eyesight or poor memory?
