Metal smiths - possible to repair this?

I have a Lawton 7500 chromoly action and the bolt shroud has some damage to it. Really the only place on the rifle with any cosmetic wear. Could this be filled and refinished? Let me know if anyone can help. Thank you.

It would be less expensive to buy a new one. try pacific tool Dave kiff.

Yea Gerry I know, it's just Lawton customer service is so awful it took me weeks and dozens of emails and calls just to get the extractor spring replaced...I'll send them a email...

Just a question...could you just shorten the shroud by a few thou. more than the depth of the damage and refinish?

If you had a drill with a big enough chuck, you could grab the shroud by the threads, spin it & tidy it up against a linishing belt or belt sander - then call it a custom mod. ;)

I check kiffs web site, for you they have a shroud for a remington that is identical in apperance. Not sure if the threads are the same. Its a big $8.50 item.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to try and get a new one from Lawton and if that fails probably just take it to my smith.

Funny how it happened - I was told by Lawton to use a penny to keep the shroud up so you can disassemble the bolt. I did that and that's what happened.
