Isonite QPQ is another name for Melonite QPQ. TruTec is the company that is doing most of the firearms parts and barrels. They will be getting 2 barrels of mine soon.

i am considering having two stainless pac nor barrels done. both of these projects may/would be considered overbore but it's all fun.
anyway,
1. i am also curious if the process will indeed extend barrel life.
2. should the rifle be "broken in" prior to coating? (i have heard both sides of the conversation)
there appears to be a lot of comments on both sides throughout the internet.
I was told by two people very close to the process, both of whom post here and have been very instrumental in bringing the process to us, that the latest-N-greatest is to get the barrel shooting, then clean it good and send it in.
I had one done a couple of years ago now. The person who did mine wanted as few rounds through it as possible. He said he had had some problems with accuracy from barrels that had been shot a bit. I think he was talking 50 shot's max back then.
The barrel I had done took time figuring out after. I had to add powder to get back to the former accuracy and I believe the barrel is shooting better after a season of shooting than it did when I first got it back. I have no complaints and if it lasts as long as one lad has experienced, I will not have to replace it for the rest of my shooting career
I did recieve a call from Joel today regarding the break-in and he said the main thing was to make sure there were no burrs etc. left in the throat area. They are using a FFL now and I was told to contact them for pricing and estimated time, but he did say it would be about $60/ each.
