Didn't the original post say the rifle action used in the test was a PUSH FEED? I didn't think Mauser made 98's in push feed? Just goes to show you can screw up any design if you customize it enough.

Hmmm, a Mauser in BR competition
I have my friend's rifle in my possesion. A Mauser in 220 Swift. It does not feed properly though. Jams like a son of a gun.
But, BR doesn't need 5 rounds in the mag, so I will just load 1 at a time. Oh yes, I plan to shoot the next 100 yard BR shoot with the Mauser.

with a little work, that 220 swift will feed just fine.

I have actually seen a full custom BR rig built from a mauser. it belonged to a dude from montgomery named Van Free. I think he quit shooting about 10yrs ago.
