N1YPD,
Just keep in mind that once you do anything, and I mean anything, to alter a factory gun, you no longer qualify for the Production Class.
The Marauder is a great gun and can carry you a long way into these competitions. I even know of one which had been highly modified that not only won the National FT Championships back in 2011, but also continually kicked our butts as well as setting a very impressive 3-Gun Agg. Outdoor record score for the HV Class in 2012. But, as I said, that gun was so highly modified that the internals had nothing in common with the Marauder had started out as.
Pete,
When this was all getting started it was very common for us at Pinnacle to only have 2, or at most 3 come to the matches. Paul has always been the exception as he's situated in the middle of a very active airgun area. I think his first Indoor match he had 13 or 14 show up, and then at his first Outdoor match there were something like 7 where, as I said, I'd by happy with 3, even when running the matches right after a rimfire BR match finished hoping that I might get some hold-over interest.
It tough to shoot Outdoors when my choices are to either drive the 177 miles up to Augusta, or 140 miles to Salem. Hence the reason I keep running the occasional shoots at Pinnacle even though physically it's a next to impossible thing for me to do. By the way, I'm figuring on trying to schedule 5 matches during 2014, that is if the Club doesn't give me any static about tying up the range.
Keep up the good work.
Dave
