Went to the range early today, but the winds picked up early too. I'm still attempting to find the right tuner setting for the Eley Match ammo I have on hand. Burned a couple of boxes of the 1011 (two and six machine) ammo trying to obtain a solid setting ... but conditions were not favorable for tuning. Vertical was near eliminated at around "100" on my new X-III / Shilen Ratchet rifle. Fine tuned to "104" and shot a USBR card using E.M. 1011-02275, score 239 3x, I consider this poor. Reset the tuner @ "096" shot a card with the "New" E.M 1012-06305 score was 242 5X. Not a good card either, but some of the dropped points could have been my fault for not paying enough attention to the flags / indicators. Told one of the guys I was going to try another card, using my best lot of Lapua Center X with same ".096" tuner setting. With the Center X, same conditions, card scored 247 5X ... very good. On my drive home, I kept thinking, ... that can't be ... Center X is not supposed to shoot higher scores than Eley Match. All the big matches conflict with my results today.
J.higdon, I ordered one box each of five different lots of the two machine 1012 Eley Match. Will test them after Christmas, on a good day. John
