Making the most of Summer:

Yesterday one of my shooting pals and I drove to Salem, NY, some 842 miles, round trip, for me, to participate in their Monthly "After Work IR 50/50 Unlimited Matches". We arrived there about 3:00 PM to a 94* 90+ % humidity afternoon and proceeded to make ourselves sick by drinking too much water.

The AC in my old mini-van got us sorted out in a few minutes however and after assemblying our equipment, we shot the three matches with the friendly lads there. We were able to get out of there by 7:20 and had a nice leasurely dinner in a small Inn a few miles into Vermont. The Hinekin and pork Madelions were superb, I must say.

We then pounded the roads back to Maine, arriving in Augusta, his home area around 2:00 AM. I re-coffee'd and made an attempt to finish the other two hours of driving to my Base Camp.

Didn't quite make it as the sleepies got me about 30 miles short of Base Camp so I hove - too @ a big Irving Oil Travel Center and slept for an hour and a half. Continued on after me nap and arrived at Base Camp at 6:00; making it a 24.5 hour day for me.

Probably not many more of these Marathons left in this nearly 68 YO Bod but it's a good feeling to squeeze the ones that are left, out. :)

Glad to have you and Gary come on down!!
We were all glad to have you and that 748 43x's sure was a wake up call for everone here!!
I know I couldn't have made that trip and am glad to hear that you got back home OK!

Thanks Pete, I always enjoy visiting you and the lads. I attribute the 748-43 to the Blind Hogs of the world. That was coser to a Truffle than an Acorn though:)
