What do you guys do when you lose a piece of brass or two out of 20? Do you go 18 or 19 or do you replace it with a new piece of brass or just go with the 18 or 19 you have left. leaving you without a full 20 ct. box?

i think he is talking lost not failed.
and 20 round box like commercial hunting ammo,
tho some new brass is available in 20 rd boxes.

really it is like always..

WE NEED MORE INFO TO MAKE A REAL DETERMINATION.

This is likely outdated advice.

It depends on what you're doing with the cases and your preference. If 18 cases is enough, and you think they will last the match out, then 18 cases is good. If you are losing 1 or 2 every target because of something like split necks, you need to be fire forming new cases right then and there. You need a couple of smaller neck sizing bushings to take care of work hardened necks. These suggestions will get you to the end of a match. What you do when the match is over is up to you.

I'm a little confused about what the OP means by "loosing a piece of brass".

If he means he literally miss placed it, then I don't see the problem. Just make up a new one and Fire it a couple of times to match the others.

Does he mean he is loosing brass because of some physical failing? If so, we need a lot more info.

For what it's worth, in the World of Competition, cases are simply an expendable item. At last week ends Crawfish at Tomball, I started the week end with 50 fresh cases with two firings on them. At the end of the week end, most are trashed. The load I was shooting was a "Upper Widow Load" that was very competitive, and, with that coveted "fake wood" :D on the line, I wasn't about to worry about saving brass.

I am talking about having to discard a case because it is damaged in some way and you only have one or two firings on your brass. I get 10 firings out of my bass and want to keep a full box.

what are you shooting that 20 is so much better than 19 ?
you really need to explain what you are doing and what cartridge.
