Looking for a good cart

Well, I was told it wouldn't last long but I didn't listen.
I bought one of those fold up 2 wheel gizmoe carts, used it for 1 1/2 seasons and there went the wheels.
Anybody got a better suggestion?

Thanks,
Paul

go to Costco.com and search for "folding utility cart". bought one and very well made and holds 150#. about $95.

Go to

walmart and check out the Stanley rolling tool box for 19.97 or therabouts. Mine holds my Sinclair front rest with windage top, sandbag. spotting scope and other goodies. Wheels could be larger, sometimes a small tree limb will stick under the box and create drag. But the range I go to doesn't have a groundskeeper to rake up the area. Up to the users to clean up. Overall I really like the box. Wish it were slightly larger. Maybe by 2 or 3 inches wider and the lower compartment a couple inches higher. Works for me tho. Max

It sorta depends on what you need. Folding utility carts cover a huge range of quality and price.

You mentioned that your old setup didn't last. If you want something really durable, I have some experience with the Kartmaster HD500 from kart-a-bag.com. It's a hand truck that converts to a dolly. It's also collapsible and drops down to a fairly handy bundle. Now, I generally hate collapsible hand trucks, folding hand trucks, and convertible hand trucks. They're nearly always too fussy and too delicate. They wear out way too fast. I've broken more of them than I can remember.

The Kartmaster, though, is in a different league. It will haul 600 pounds, is insanely durable and well designed, and there's a range of potentially useful accessories, including solid tires, a shelving conversion and a flight case. It weighs less than 50 pounds.

If I needed a piece of equipment that was handy and light enough to pack for travel but that would enable me to haul heavy loads over flat pavement and up and down stairs, I'd probably get one. It's ok on dirt, shallow gravel, grass, etc. Like any hand truck, it can bog down in mud and it's a pain to drag through deep gravel.

The cost is around $600 but it's one of those things that makes you glad you have it every time you use it. That said, I use one at work and have never been able to justify the cost for personal use. My personal hand truck is a simple heavy steel model with nothing fancy that cost me, iirc, $85 a couple of decades ago. Now that I'm getting old and slow I just may treat myself to something better and I find myself seriously considering the Kartmaster.

Wheels & Tires

Small solid wheels, are a problem at most ranges. You need something that has an inflatable tire at least 8 inhes in diameter. You also want that tire to be about 4 inches wide when inflated. Those gravel parking a spectator sections you must pass thru are hell on equipment if it gets bounced around by those small solid wheels.

Those Blue & White

Dock Carts ( the one in the picture above ) aren't bad. I have had mine for 6 or 7 years and it is none the worse for wear. I have seen wooden tops for them advertised and am sorry now I didn't buy one for mine when they were advertised. These Dock Carts are sort of the "Standard", from what I have seen.
