looking for a clamp on tuner

I recently had a 30 br made and it seems to have tuned in pretty well, but im interested in trying a barrel tuner. Im not ready to invest in having the barrel threaded, nor do i have the time with the first local match just around the corner. A fellow shooter came to a match last year with what appeared to be a clamp on tuner. I have seen these for rimfire bench rest but cant seem to find a centerfire version. Does any one have any information on who might make such a tuner. Also has any one tried one with any sucess.

Thanks
Will

I think the general consensus is that a clamp on tuner will shift in position under recoil. Very small increments in linier movement can have an affect on the tune.

I am not saying that you should not try it, since I have never used anything but a screw on tuner. I am just saying what most believe.........jackie

Brownells sells one but probably not exactly what you are looking for. go to their web site and search for a "Que Industries Adjustable Muzzle Brake"

thanks for the tip not exactly what im looking for, but i may keep it in mind for a 308 spoter im playing with too.

the tuner im looking for went on a heavy bench dameter barrel, with graduated rotation adjustments.

If that's you, the tuner I have on my savage is a Time Precision tuner and you are welcome to it if you'd like for half what I paid for it. I had a full blown custom rig done this year sans tuner. I had the time tuner jb welded onto the end of the shilen barrel, but I imagine, like with any epoxy, that with some heat it should come off. I was in the middle of a practice session when i first bought the gun when the darn thing flew off about 20' in front of the bench (this was before the jb weld).
You will have to have it bored out to fit the diameter of the larger barrel, but anyone with a lathe and a boring bar should be able to make short work of it for you. I would consider having it epoxied to the barrel if you decide to go this route.
Let me know if you're interested. It did show some significant changes to the group size with very small amounts of movement (it is a beyond the muzzle type "muzzle device").

yeah this is Willie Valley, i would definatly be interested in trying your tuner, that must be the one i saw on your savage hybrid. Email me some time at williev18@yahoo.com and let me know what youd like for it.

Get the Fudd tuner from Mountain Specialties. The rimfire benchrest folks use a lot of them. Plus, they weigh enough to maintain tune.
