I'm looking for some custom bullets in the 115-118 range that uses the 1" jacket. I get great performance from the BIB 118 10 ogive with 1" jackets but they are hard to get. Are the knight 118s a 1" jacket? A friend had some Cheeks 7 ogive at the range yesterday, but they were .925 jackets. Any other suggestions?

I have recently been shooting some 118's made by Dan Honert and they are shooting well enough I plan to shoot them at the IBS Nationals in a couple weeks. Regrettably I have misplaced Dan's email address and I have no Idea if he even generally makes bullets for resale I acquired these through a trade.

Also not really sure if Allie Euber makes any bullets on the long Jackets but you can reach him at 802-948-2621

Kevin, there are quite a few bullet makers that do the 117-118's on the 1" jacket...that's what I make my 8 ogive 117's on. Randy's 118's are also available in the 7 ogive profile, so you may want to check with him and see if he has some of those available.

Dick Baier at 10X bullets is another source (cell 920.410.3400 or home 920.688.2667). Also, Bill Schieder @ Fowler Bullets makes the 117's on a 1" jacket. http://fowlerbullets.com/ Jon Conley also makes darn good bullets. Not sure what jacket his 116's are on but here's his contact info: http://conleybullets.com/Home_Page.html

Good shootin'. -Al

I think most bullet makers will make their bullets on 1" jackets if one asks for them. I have had some of Ronnies 125g, which I believe were on 1" jckets in the past and they shoot the very best. I also had some 100g 30's he made that shot exceptionally well.

Great! Thanks guys! I've been using Dick Baier/ Chad Schmidt's 10x bullets and they shoot good. I can usually catch one of those Wisconsin boys down at the St. Louis range every now and then.:D It's just my gun seems to like the light bullets with long jackets. The 115s I have from them are .925 jacket. The 130s are 1" but they are a little heavier than the gun wants with the 1:18 twist barrel. It stabilizes them fine, but accuracy isn't as good.

I now have plenty of sources though. ;)

Another option for a good 118 grain bullet on a 1 inch jacket.

You're going to win at least a yardage with those bullets!

All said and done, I prefer 1" 7 ogive bullets. I have found them to be the easiest bullets to tune a rifle to and have never felt I was at any disadvantage from those who were shooting bullets with more agressive ogive. I like K I S S. it seems to work.
