Legal Rest

I may be able to purchase at a great price a Sinclair windage adjustable front rest with adjustable side plates that will acommodate narrow varmint forearm or 3 inch wide forearm. Sinclair's catalog implies this rest is NOT legal for IBS competition - my question is why? I do shoot in 600 yard matches and just purchased a 6PPC which I might try in registered matches so I'm needing to know if this rest would or would not be allowed.

Thanks

HI Jim....I just lookd in my sinclair catalog at their front rests....I dont see any of them that are NOT legal for competion.....there is one model that they say culd be used if you not shooting NBRSA/IBS matches....its legal but just not "optimum" for "B"enchrest rifles.....I hope this helps ease your worries....Roger

Thanks Roger - what you quoted is precisely how they worded it for the rest in question - my misunderstanding! I'm guessing "not optimum" versus their own higher priced new model rest.

Thanks

Jim, I think Rog nailed it. BTW I have the Sinclair adjustable rest and it's a pita to actually compete with. Not as hard as say shooting over a set of varminting type "bulls bags," but not extremely user friendly. The bag that the rest is designed for, the one mine came with anyway, is kinda' roundy and rocky-rolly.

I'm guessing you mean this one? http://www.sinclairintl.com/.aspx/pid=38378/Product/Sinclair_Generation_II_All_Purpose_Windage_Rest as Roger said, it's legal, just not ideal for comp.

And the center post is kinda' wimpy.
