Large to small primer thread?

A friend said he saw a thread on converting large primer pockets to small. I've searched the forums and don't find the thread he refers to. Apparently it involved using a fired large primer pocket cup in some fashion. Suggestions will be appreciated.

Do a search on Yahoo. You will get several hits on previous Forum threads. I remember, years ago, prior to small rifle primer pockets in .454 Casull brass, that bushings were available to convert large to small. If memory serves correct, they were steel and it was a one time process. Depriming and repriming was done as usual after conversion. Remember large pistol primers are .006 shorter and you're still going to have same size flash hole. Don't know if that would make any difference or not. You might contact Freedom Arms and see if anyone remembers. I think that was the source.

Freedom arms used a bushing that was lock tited in to make the 454 casull a small primer, they were steel and you could buy them by the 100s, after the original installation you reloaded as normal, worked great. I purchased 3 or 400 many years ago from freedom arms but I have no idea if they still sell them or not, but that would be alot simpler than all that mess the guy was doing to use spent primers for bushings. Give them a call and see. Steve

Thanks to those that responded. The article my friend mentioned was indeed in the most recent Precision
