Kelbly Teddy Action?

Friend of mine picked up 3 complete rifles and from pics, they look like they haven't been fired. He offered me one of the Teddy actions. I have a Panda f-class action, and really like it a lot. I can't seem to find any info on the teddy so I'll ask here. Why is there so much length in front of the bolt and do you have to thread the barrel that length or is like shroud that the barrel slides into? Would it be a good f-class action? How long has Kelbly stop making that action? Will a Panda barrel fit on a Teddy action? Thanks for your responses.

This is an attempt to arrive at more bedding area without adding a substantial amount of weight. The front part of the action is actually counterbored to clear the barrel. The thread tenon on a teddy is also longer, I am not sure how much, about 1/4 inch I think. So no, a Panda barrel will not work unless you used a spacer to account for the extra tenon length. I know one shooter who does this.

Teddys are nice actions, I think they quit making them in the mid '90's.

If you e-mail Kelbly, they will probably send you all of the pertenent info. That, and most Benchrest Gunsmiths know all of the criticle dimensions and can do you up a barrel for it.......jackie

The specs for a Teddy&Polar action are as follows:

1. Tenon Dia. 1.0625/ 1 1/16-18 Threads per inch. If you are using wires to measure the threads the measurement should be 1.0715" Plus or Minus 0.002 using 0.032" wires.

2.Tenon Length 1.340

3 Cone 30'

If you think the Teddy is long you should see the Polar at 15" long, I have both Teddy is heavy Gun & Polar is my Rail Gun!
