Jewell Trigger

Where or from whom can one get a Jewell trigger for a Turbo action? Would like to buy from BRCentral member.

Thanks in advance. Gordon Gauge

What's a BR Central member? Is that an advertiser or someone who posts on the forum or someone who uses the classifieds? Anyway, you can go to classifieds and under triggers you will see someone who says they have all models and wants to be your Jewell trigger dealer. There's one option. I'm sure there are many advertisers who have them as well. The price does not vary much.

C'mon now Beau.

Yes a BRCentral member is someone who posts here. They may advertise as well. I have not purchased a BR trigger before, and thought it would be nice to use someone here rather than, say a Midway or other "big" outfit.

I'll take your advise and look for that classified post you spoke of. Thanks.

BTW - HOW TOUGH OR EASY IS THE INSTALLATION? DO THEY PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS? I'M GUESSING IT IS SOMETHING THE AVERAGE MECH COULD HANDLE.

I think a Turbo is the same as Remington. As far as installing it, I can do it and that speaks volumes. Means it's easy.

Adapter

All after market Remington style actions will require an adapter to install a Jewell Trigger. The turbo should already have one attached. If not, contact Flash Ebert for one. I think I paid $35 for that last one I purchased. As for easy, the most problem you will have, is making sure the trigger/safety/trigger release, will clear the stock. Kurt Westfall also sells Jewell triggers, that will fit a Sako, and there is a listing in the Classifieds that also offers a wide aray of Jewell triggers.

I ended up ordering one from the guy advertising in the classifieds. I'll give a report on how that goes. Thanks.

Look forward to what you find out about them how they install. I am thinking of ordering one for my remington 40X just don't know if should get the one with the bolt release or not.

Dont want this to sound discouraging. By ALL means get the one with the bolt release. Im not sure how the other works(without) but how will you clean. AND one (ARA??) requires bolt removal during matches.

When installing do NOT push the pin thru the bolt release ALL the way out. If you do make sure you are very observant or take a couple pics prior to the removal.

Get the bolt release, or you'll wish you had.

That is the way i am leaning. I am just not sure out it will work with the 40x as the stock trigger was reworked and set at 2oz and the bolt release was removed. Right now I have to use a flat head screw driver and push down on a button next to the bolt to release it.

I have 2 40x's one without and one with the bolt release and after you forget to bring your screw driver to the bench acouple of times you will wish you had the bolt release.

Well here it is, some weeks down the road.

Just got a return email informing me that I will have to send the defective Jewell trigger back to Jewell, as the outfit I bought it from apparently just cuts ya loose once the transaction is completed. Up until this kick in the ass everything was going fine.

Installation was pretty simple, although they did not provide any instructions. They did however provide good instructions on how to adjust pull, overtravel, etc.

But this particular unit will not adjust below 2.5 pounds without slam firing.

Sooo,.......it's back to wait time until I hear from Jewell.

p.s. i no longer subscribe to P.S., could anyone give me Russ Haydons phone number? Also, Turbo does not need Bolt Release. Thanks, GG

I don't know Beau, that last recommendation from you turned out to be ...............

JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING! I appreciate your advise and Haydons URL very much. Hope to repay you some day if I get the chance.

What is wrong with the trigger? I was thinking of ordering one from them also, for my 40x, now you have me second guessing and going with a place like Bruno's.
Bill

I wouldn't second guess a Jewell. There may be a little variation in quality at times but not much. A bad one is probably unusual and I'm sure they will take care of the problem. Good people to deal with.

Did you buy a used trigger? If it were a BR trigger, why would it need adjusting?
I'm accustomed to sending defective parts back to the Manufacturer. The seller has no way to fix them.
Butch

Not a used trigger as far as I know. It was sold to me as a new BR

The ziplok bag it came in had "1.5" written in felt pen on it.

The trigger pull as it came was a little over 4 oz. Any weight under 2.5 oz is not reliable as far as slam fires go, and under 2oz the sear will not hold at all.

Bruce, you may be accustomed to middlemen who do nothing after the sale, but in my book that is no way to do business. If the middleman sells a defective part he should replace it asap and then he should deal with sending it back to the manufacturer for replacement.
