Jewel Springs

Has anyone here tried making lighter return springs for Jewel triggers? It occurs to me that one may be able to lighten this spring up to reduce the drag placed on the sear bar????

Thanks,

I don't fall into the camp that believes it to be a problem, as long as its consistent. I'd be more worried about the cocking piece dragging on the trigger housing...myself, but I'm certainly open to solid evidence of the problem actually needing a solution.
Convince me, please.

I used the original Bic lighter springs to get a smoother adjustment range on Remington triggers back in the eighties, but that for 3 pounds or thereabouts.

My Hall sporter. I have a Jewel trigger with the bottom safety. It is a bear to push the bar down. I think the flipper on the bottom of the release lever may add to the resistance or just has stiffer spring, don't know but the lever shows a pretty heavy rub mark. so I got to wondering if a lighter spring would relieve some of the up pressure. Considering the light pin, I was thinking this may be an item that might facilitate a bit faster launch. The rifle seems to be consistent enough, I have shot some pretty good scores with it.

We'll see

But it drags. Try the trigger in something else and see if it still rubs hard

I will shoot it this weekend and see if I can determine anything.

Well, I shot it Sunday morning and it shot another pretty good score. The things I have done to the action certainly haven't hurt anything. One thing I did was to blend the cocking ramp in a lot closer the "open notch" . The Halls seem to have a big flat there. I always blend that area in to the ramp so that the closing of the bolt is more smooth and doesn't snap downward; hate that feeling! The thing still goes Bang every time :D .
