Anyone know how I can get hold of Jackie? I've tried email but no response.

Try Me Here

They came out and fixed my e-mail, but it still does not work. In fact, the only way I can get on line is through internet-explorer.
I think I am just going to go buy a new computer and give this one a burial at Browning-Ferris........jackie

You and I had talked about some T-32 powder some time ago. Just wanted to know if you were still interested.

Let me know and if you are we can get together and let you check it out.

I thought I had said that I would not be interested. If I failed to convey that, please accept my apology.
Contact Lester Bruno. I was asked by him a while back if I knew anybody who had any originol "T'........jackie

Jackie, I sent you two or three emails before but no luck, too.
Can you email me/Paul about your new stuff, please?

Thanks, seb.

Jackie, if you get another PC stay with Windows XP Pro. Vista is still not ready for prime time.

I've set up 3 Vistas for friends and they are not nearly as good as XP Pro. For example if you have email on the server like MSN, Microsoft Live Mail, Hotmail, etc. Vista can't get to it....and those are Microsoft ISP services.

Besides even with 2Gb memory in Vista it still is not as fast as XP with 1Gb.

That explains why you have not been responding to e-mails.

Have you ever been inside a old steel T-6 to lock it up? Would you be interested in doing one?

And ditto on the Vista. It is really not even close to consumer friendly. And memory hungry is being damn kind

Well,

we have successfully hijacked this thread, and I am happy.

Jerry, or any other computer guru, I need a new computer.

I am IGNORANT.

EXACTLY what do NEED?

I want to be able to do photos, etc.

HELP!

Thanks!!

You may want to check out Acer brand laptops. They are good performance for dollars spent and don't come with a ton of garbage software and many have XP Pro instead of Vista. Windows 8 should be out soon to replace Vista. Hopefully MS has learned their lesson. They have already cut the price on Vista and have extended the production cycle for XP. The rumour mill has SP1 for Vista as being problematic as well.

Laptop

I think I am going to get a high end lap top. Mind you,my computer skills are just about maxed out with my paticipation on this Forum, but I need to learn more.
The problem with my home computer is everybody uses it. My kids, (grown kids), have downloaded so much garbage and infected forwarded messages that the Geek said I was better off just scrapping it. He swore he had it clean, but 24 hrs later,it was right back where it was before.
Heck, the thing is 5 years old, which I would amagine in computer age is about 150 years..
I am on my shop computer now, but we have the "guest" function blocked so other computers can't infect this unit. If I would have logged on to my home computer from my shops computer, it would probably be in the same shape........jackie

Jerry, Acer bought the home computer part of Gateway. They do not offer Win XP or XP Pro. All Acer computers are now made in Comminist China also.

MS learned their lesson??? Forget it! That is how Willy Gates made 39 Billion, selling junk then charging to fix it.

Just bought another Acer from on hand stock at newegg and it has XP Pro. This model is also listed as current production availabilty on the Acer web site. I have been buying them for company employees who don't treat them as well as they should and haven't had the problems like we did with Toshibas, which I consider on of the top brands. Most computer hardware is made in China no matter the brand name on the outside.

I bought a Gateway tablet last year. It was the most unreliable machine I've ever owned. In fact, it would indicate I sent mail, but it was never sent. One of my clients, a victim of this fluke, bought me a MacBook. Now this is a great computer. Go Mac and don't look back.

Some of the manufacturers are going back to Win XP. I'm glad to see another (Acer). As of about 4 weeks ago Acer web site did not offer XP nor did their brick and mortar/stationary-house offerings (Circuit City, etc).

Acer is one of the largest PC makers, sounds like they are doing better and listening to the market. Their hardware has always been pretty good.

(Acer is still not offering anything but Vista on the part of Gateway they just bought nor are they offering XP on consumer products, just business systems unless I missed something)

The indication of sending mail or not sending it is a function of the email client program (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc) not the hardware.

Mac's are simpler to use than Windows based systems but the average GI can't afford them nor are they as flexible as DOS/Windows/Intel systems.

Bottom line, you pay for what you get and you get what you pay for.....generally.
