Mine are supposed to arrive today, by end of the day. Al, did they also let you know that the 1.00" 30 cal jackets won't be in production again for at least a year?

Yes, they did ship my full order. I was given the option to increase the order about 3 or 4 months ago and it would have been shipped with the original but, pockets are only so deep. :(

Yes they did, Dan. I've got enough jackets until I decide to quit shooting competitively. At that point, I'll have a proven set of dies and some jackets for sale.

Good shootin'. -Al

What percentage of savings can be seen, when making your own bullets vice purchasing custom made bullets?

What's the initial capital outlay for dies, etcetera?

This may answer some of your questions:

I have looked into this a little, but no direct experience so far. Being retired can give a person crazy ideas :D

IMO this is never about savings...... it's about having bullets when you need them!

If you are thinking of buying a set of bullet dies to save money on your bullets you are barking up a wrong tree. A lotta time , a lotta money and a lotta work is in front of you before you come out one red cent ahead. And a lot of people make bullets, a somewhat smaller group makes "GOOD" bullets.

My dad and I used to make our own bullets back in the early 90's (22 & 6mm). Never sold them but I will say it was a labor of love. In the end it's hard to beat going direct through guys like Sauter, Knight, and Euber (on price and quality). We may get back into it someday but it would only be for the fun of it.

I tried the bullet making thing back in the early 2000's, bought the best of everything.

I never could get my bullets to shoot as well as the Fowlers of that era. A labor of love became a labor in futility.

My bullet making stuff is still all sitting right where I left it in my office some 10 years ago when I stood up and said, "screw this sh-t".

The only thing I don't have is a point up die, I sold it years ago to a friend who wanted to experiment with some diamond lap.

I decided to keep everything else. You never know..........jackie
