It's with great sadness that I must inform you that we lost a good friend and mentor.
As some of you knew, Shelley Davidson had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He passed away peacefully in his sleep @ 04:00am Tuesday the 17th of June. I will have more information as it becomes available.

May he rest in peace

I never met the man but from conversing on this forum I could tell that Shelley was a good man. My condolences to his family and friends.

I spent over a month with Shelley just before the Cactus, if he was sick I didn't know it an I'm sure he didn't know it. We spent a lot of time in the shop, at the range and just talking. We met at Tomball a couple of years ago and became good friends. Man it's hard to write this with tears in my eyes an all the thoughts of him in my mind. Love ya Shelley, you will always be in my thoughts.

Thanks Shelly....

I only met Shelly once, at Denton for a Tony school several years ago. I got there the afternoon before and it was Shelly's class time with Tony so I didn't bug them. He would have none of that and invited me over to share his session with Tony. He didn't even know me and was willing to do that. What a class act and an example for us all. Thanks for putting some humanity back into the human race and may you rest in peace sir.

Peace for a good Man.

A loss for the Family and friends of Shelley, but the Good Lord has gained a truly good soul.
I am happy that Shelley was able to pass peacefully in his sleep. Suffering is NOT acceptable.
May God bess the Davidson family,

Damn, I was just getting ready to go see him before lunch. I didn't think it would happen quite this soon. He didn't seem that bad on Sunday. I'm overwhelmed. :(

Shelley will leave a huge vacuum. When I first saw his metal stocked rifle, I said it looks like it was assembled like a tinker toy. It became the Tinker Toy 30BR that shot zeros on occasion. I liked the electric motor on his powder thrower that took the human element out of the equation, and his work with magnets on his barrel and stock. He did the development work on the tuner that we sell and is a partner with us. Do you guys remember the windflags that looked like birds that he used early on? I would listen to him complain that his CNC machines would go crazy. He would take power supplies from a doorbell and all kinds of things to make his little machines work. Shelley had a very bright mind.
It's going to be very hard to put the phone down a couple times a day without having talked to him. He was a very special guy.

Shelley Davidson and I shared many hours of great conversation during the days he spent at the tunnel testing his creations. To say that he was one to venture outside the box would be an understatement.

Shelley was a thinker and innovator, he was also a terrific machinist who could turn his ideas into the real thing and be testing before you could say scat. His 'Tinker Toy' rifle served as the inspiration for my ultralight aluminum stock and his tuner greatly influenced my own design. Although my stocks and tuners are considerably different and much lighter and simpler, they were inspired by Shelley's ideas.

Shelley was what many of us here in Texas refer to as a "Good Old Boy." He was the real deal and I'm glad I got to know him before he graduated from life here on earth. We lost a good one.

Like many others

My heart is heavy with the news of Shelley's passing. All of the things said above are certainly true and he will be missed by all who knew him. We are diminished by his death. My condolences to daughter and family. He was a credit to our sport and to humanity. James Mock

Time for rememberance

Though I never met Shelly, I feel a great loss for the sport especially in Texas...:(
I hope we can come up with a fitting memorial on this website so that in the future all newcomes will learn of Shelly Davidson and his contributions to this unique sport...
We are diminished...:(

I only was able to talk to Shelly a few times. Last year at my first score match he let me shoot the tinker toy. He will be missed. God Bless Him.

James, Is there an address where we may send our thoughts to his family. And any information on funeral arrangements. Thanks, Lew

So Sad to here this news

Shelly really loved benchrest. He sure liked to bet quarters with Robert Whitewood. I will miss him and his overalls. He always seemed jolly no matter how he was shooting. Have been thinking about him alot lately. He will be missed..............GW

When I talked to Shelley's brother yesterday, Shelley ask that there not be a funeral. I don't know what the family has decided.

Like others here, I have lost a very good friend. Shelley was fun to talk to and fun to shoot with. He always had a ready grin and was glad to see you. He will be missed greatly!

God rest your soul Shelley. You are missed.

Though I do not post here much I met Shelley a good number of years ago at several of the LSSOs and corresponded with him by email through the years. He will truly be missed by many. I found him to be an incredibly nice gentleman who always was willing to help others. I will miss him dearly.

At a rifle clay shoot I attended a few weeks ago in Texas they dedicated the shoot to Shelley. I just got an email from Shelley's account, I assume family sent it, informing many of his passing so I came here to see what others have to say about a good guy.

With that I will got to the range now with my daughter to do some long range shooting in memory of Shelley.

God rest his soul,
Terry (Dr. Bubba) Adams
