It's driving me crazy !!!

goingcrazy

I know
Richard very well and he is a very good gunsmith and a good tuner there is a problem with the gun not him his h/v shoots like a lazer

Stafford

Stafford is correct, Richard is a very good gunsmith. Something is wrong somewhere. On any given day Richard can out shoot most folks. I know...I have shot against him on more than one occasion.

Hope to see both of you the end of the month at Mill Creek!

Tom :D

Richard

I don't know if you're getting your PM's. Give me a call at 575-682-3036, or give me your number and I will call you. I might know the problem, but it will require a couple of measurements.

Michael

I didn't necessarily mean a gunsmith

Give it to anybody! Just the rifle and nothing else. Don't give them any information whatsoever.

Try changing the ...

shooter. Let another top gun shoot it and see what kind of results is achieved. Could be the source is human vice mechanical. Art

The rifle is doing fine (now)

Stafford let the cat out of the bag:) And no, I didn't have to shoot and have some one taking notes on my shooting method:rolleyes: It is just amazing how little things can affect how a rifle shoots. Who would have thought bolt shroud thread to bolt tolerance would make such a big difference. Once I tightened up the clearance the fliers went away, totally.
I shot the rifle in both the LV and HV at Raton and the only fliers were wind related.
Richard

Probably, the fit of the shroud in the bolt was letting the striker (firing pin) rub unevenly. Wouldn't be the first time a shroud was the culprit. It's amazing how often the striker & it's fit, at either end of the bolt, is a problem.

Richard Brensing was one of the first to chamber the 220 Beggs cartridge. It was my pleasure to shoot with him this past weekend at the Whittington Center in Raton. :)

Shooting his 220 Beggs, Richard won the LV 100 Saturday morning against some of the best shooters in the country. Keep an eye on this one. ;)

Later,

Gene Beggs

Since Richard has already told you the problem was with the bolt shroud, I guess I can tell you; he did a little tweaking on the bolt of my Cobra drop port, and I won the very next match! Yeah,, small group; how 'bout that?

I don't know if it was coincidence, but my shooting prior to Richard's mod was unimpressive; afterwords, I damn near won the LV 200. I was in second place through match number four but was edged out by Scott Smallwood and Jim Ericson in that order. We had a lot of fun, the weather was terrific. Great match with 47 shooters.

Later,

Gene Beggs

Gee Richard, whatever did you do to Gene's and your bolt shrouds? You don't have to post it, but was it what I PMed you about?
