is there a noticable difference between 300 win mag and 300 win short mag at 600+

it was a mind(less ?) excersise.....
if it has no reasonable end...well

well lets back up on that statement....
no vld's...sie 190 mk, at mag length...just like the 300 win mag ammo....
can the short mag meet the 300 win mag with a shorter bbl..saving more wieght ?

If the measure you're asking about is velocity then the answer is no, you can't get as much velocity out of WSM. But what difference does 50-30 fps make at 600 or 1K yds? Or three ounces for that matter. Angels on the head of a pin Mike.
 
You guys might want to consider the WSM will be easiest to get shooting small groups. There are some good shooting 300 win Mags out there, but a lot more good shooting WSM's. Go For the short action if your worried about weight.
