IBS Rules For Tuners

What is the current rule for using tuners for competition on VFS rifles?
Is anyone currently building and selling tuners?
 
Gene Beggs and Butch Lambert (Shadetree Eng.) both make different types of tuners. They are also donators to many shooting events. There are other tuner makers, but I am not aware of their names.
I'm not an IBS rule guru - but as far as I know, there are very few limitations to tuners (as long as your follow the other rules - weight, muzzle past the edge of bench, etc)You can not stand up, during a match, to adjust your tuner. However, you can take your bolt out and lift your rifle up to adjust, then set back down, insert bolt, and keep blasting.

Go back to the home page, click on the IBS Logo. Look at Downloads, Rule Book. Scroll down to page 18. It gives the complete details.

In short, the rules for tuner use in Varmint for Score are exactly the same as those in Group Class Heavy Varmint.............jackie

I actually did go to the IBS website looking fo rthe rules and I guess I just didn't look hard enough.
Do you have contact info for Gene Beggs and Butch Lambert?

I have three of these tuners. They are made by Borden Rifles http://www.bordenrifles.com/ . They came with the nylon screws as well as an internal screw but I use the nylon as they are extremely easy to adjust.

Just out of curiosity, could you share some info on the Borden tuner? Thread dia. and pitch, weight? What is the total amount of adjustment that you have used to tune a particular load? Do you get any POI shift when you adjust? What barrel length and contour? Can the tuner do it all, once the right load has been found, or does the load have to be changed for some situations?

There is some point of impact shift when adjusting the tuner but it isn't much. The three guns I have the tuners on all have different barrels. One is an HV 4 groove Brux, one is an HV Rock Creek and the third is an LV Bartlein. I use the same powder setting and the exact same seating die on all of them. If you were to look at the tuner settings on each you'd notice that the LV is about as close to the chamber as it will go and the HVs are closer to the muzzle. I have not changed the powder or seating depth since I settled on the load. All three of the rifles were completely built right at the Borden facility.
