After reading about Jackies good luck with Norma 200 and reading some other positive info about Norma 200 i set out to find some. It wasnt easy but i found 5 pounds. I will try it out in my 30BR for sure but what about mt 22ppc .100 short? Will it work? Is it even worth trying? Were should i start on the powder charge? Lee

Hodgdons burn rate chart indicates Norma 200 to be a tad faster than H4198. Key word "indicates". I shoot 34.3 grains H4198 behind a 116 grain bullet in my 30BR. If I were to try Norma 200, I would start at about 30.0 grains and work upward. Over a chronograph. Very carefully. I would be looking for a velocity node in the 2930-3020 range with the lighter bullets. As to the 22-100......your guess.

The reason i ask about the Norma in the 22 is because i shoot 4198 in my 22ppc, so i am assuming that the Norma 200 will work as well??

thanks James! I always am!! I may not even bother with this powder in the 22ppc .100 short anyway. What little testing i have done thus far shows that the new 8208 (first lot 4736) is working quite well, as is 4198. Lee

Lee,

Maybe there's a Fireball in your future. Five pounds of powder or a hundred cases is all the reason required to justify a new rifle.

Lee, the best .22 PPC-100 shooter that I know is Mike Ratigan. He uses only N133 and does very well with it. James

Greg- I like the way you think. Heck a switch in the wind direction is good enough reason for me to buy something i dont need! LOL!!
JD- I have talked with mike in person and via e-mail several times about my 22ppc .100 short adventure. He thinks N133 inst a strong choice when you go a full .100 short. Mike shoots a .070 short i do beleive. I havent tried N133 yet but i will. I am waiting on some new brass and a better FL size die and for my personal range to be complete then i can really start to play. My folks are building a new home on one of our farms and i am building a 2 bench 200 yard range with hopefully a shoot house. At the very least a covered concret pad with two benches but i am really pushing for the shoot house so my Pard and myself can stay warm in the winter. We can sit in there all day and shoot and load. It will be nice not having to fight the public ranges any longer. Lee

Hey Skeet, by all my test, the Norma 200 is just about identicle in burn rate, (by volume), to my lot of H4198.

I aquired 16 pounds of it a while back, and all I do is pour the 4198 out, and put the N-200 in, changing nothing else. Shoots pretty darned good...........jackie
