OK guys,
It’s only a week away. I’ve received a lot of great emails and positive calls regarding this upcoming event.
I’d like to take a moment to recognize some of the people supporting this match.
I’d like to thank,
Wade at Shilen
Butch Lambert at Shadetree Eng.
George at Kelbly’s Inc.
Randy Robinett at BIB
Dave at Pacific tool & gauge
Jon at L.E. Wilson
Mike Lucas
Bart at Bart’s bullets
Russ at Haydon’s shooters supply
The Harrell brothers at Harrell’s Precision
Lester at Bruno’s
Berger Bullets

We will start the weekend off shooting score. The format will consist of 100 & 200yd (VFS), (H), (VH) & a Factory class. The Factory class is not officially recognized by the IBS so we will not get too hung up on what qualifies. If it has a factory barrel on it you can shoot it.
All classes will shoot together and be recognized separately.

Sunday will bring in the group portion of the shoot. The format will be 100 & 200yd HV. The thinking behind a Heavy Varmint class is it will allow everyone to shoot with no one being turned away due to an ineligible gun.
A point system will be used based on the number of people you finish ahead of after each match. The person with the most points will be the Texas State Champion.

The Shilen’s will be supporting this event with a cookout on Saturday night. This dinner will be held in our club house and it should be a good time had by all.

We will draw for benches at 8:00 and shoot at 9:00 on Saturday and shoot at 8:00 on Sunday.
The fee will be $50.00 a day with a free practice day on Friday.

I am real interested in seeing how the combined score and group format works, if successful, we could possibly use in in our NBRSA Varmint for Score Format to allow for a Two Day Shoot.

Why the 9:00 am start on Sunday instead of the traditional 8:00. It is a 6 hour drive back to Houston. Got to be at work Monday Not complaining, just curious.........jackie

Just a typo. I’m used to typing that for the club matches. It's fixed

jon sir

so you are saying we could participate with 1000yd guns [no brakes]in hv for group and score and it counts? is there a weight limit?thanks tim in tx

is there a weight limit?thanks tim in tx

I pulled this off the I.B.S site

HUNTER CLASS: A 10 pound rifle; any cartridge with no less than 30-30 case capacity (45 grains of water); any sights, scopes must be 6X or less (variables must be set and taped); rebarrelling, restocking, and special triggers permitted. (See Rule Book Article 2 and 3)

VARMINT-HUNTER CLASS: a 10 pound rifle; any centerfire cartridge; any sights, scopes must be 6X or less (variables must be set and taped); rebarrelling, restocking, and special triggers permitted. (See Rule Book article 2 and 3)

VARMINT FOR SCORE CLASS: The rifle must meet IBS Light Varmint (10 1/2 pounds) or IBS Heavy Varmint (13 1/2 pounds) specifications. (See Rule Book article 2)

FACTORY: There are no specific rules designating this class. It is generally any centerfire rifle that can be purchased with no restocking, rebarrelling, or special triggers. If you have a hunting or varmint hunting rifle and are interested in trying competitive shooting, check with you local IBS range to see when their next match is being held. There are no IBS awards or records maintained for this class.

I'm not JON but I am sure that since it says "HV" "heavy varmint", then the gun will need to meet the IBS Heavy Varmint regulations. Which among other regulations have a 13.5 lb weight limit.
Also their are regulations concerning width of stock, bedding, barrel diameter and barrel taper.

Are the out of town guys planing on staying at any specific hotel/motel in the area?
Ted

thanks jon and ted

the reason i asked was that i have a light gun that would make the weight for hv ,i just didnt know for sure what the weight was. the stock will meet the rules but the muzzle is .930 at 27.5 inches ,it will be close . well thought i would try. thanks tim in tx

Jon, If our gun is over the weight requirement can we still shoot for HV and not be eligible for ranking. Your statement and the rules are are a little confusing.I just want to a chance to see how this gun shoots.

Lew,
If you are overweight you can still compete. Only the rifles that meet the requirements will be eligible to win.

Jon, I know I need to lose some weight but as long as my rifle is ok to compete I'm OK.
Thanks, Lew

Thanks Butch..
I hope some people show up because there’s going to be a lot of food..

I think most of us Okies are staying at the Sanger Inn. I think there will be 5 of us, last count I had. I think me and Mike are going to be there Friday to practice. I will probably get there about 1:00 pm.

Sanger Inn

I checked with the Sanger Inn, and they are full. I was able to get a room down South of the Range just off HyWay 380. It's the Best Western........jackie
