How do I check Unertl bases for being level?

You can correct quite a bit of 'out' by tapping one base in one direction and the other base in the other direction with the screws snug and then tighten them firmly. I use a piece of hardwood and smack it quite hard. There is enough play in the screw to base fit usually.
 
It has been awhile but I thought I would tell you what I did to check the bases for level. I put the rifle in a vise put a small level on the rear base and leveled it up then put it on the forward base. The bubble was clear off to the side. Wasn't as hard to figure out as I thought.

I haven't tried putting taps in to see if the holes line up but might if I can find enough of them. I doubt if it the base though.
