The schedule for this weekend's ARA matches is as follows:

Saturday - 2/12/11 - Six target club tournament starting at 8:00 AM (double points)
Saturday - 2/12/11 - Six target LA state tournament at 2:00 PM (double points)

Dan Killough is planning to be at the range around noon on Friday with a new shipment of ammo for testing prior to the matches.

As in our previous matches, we will be offering a cash option for an additional $10 per target at each match for those that want to participate. Payouts will 60% of the pot to 1st place and 40% of the pot to 2nd place on each target.

For those that haven't been there, Hollybrook Rimfire is just south of Lake Providence, LA. The range is located in a cotton warehouse on the east side of US Hwy. 65 approximately 4.5 miles south of Lake Providence or 25 miles north of the Tallulah, LA exit on I-20. Look for the silver water tower with HOLLY BROOK COTTON WHSE on it in a cluster of red and white warehouses. We are in the warehouse at the southeast corner of the water tower.

The coordinates for the range are as follows:
N 32° 44' 26"; W 91° 10' 46"
N 32.7406°; W 91.1794°
N 32° 44.4333'; W91° 10.7667'

The Economy Inn is the closest lodging and is located about 2 miles north of the range on US Hwy. 65. They offer single occupancy rooms for $40/night and double occupancy rooms for $45/night. The hotel phone number is (318) 559-3801.

If you have any questions give one of us a call:
Jason Thornhill (318) 237-1204
Gregg Johnson (318) 282-6020

Looks like you fellows up north need to put on the snow chains and come down to Louisiana and warm up for a couple of days.

Richard and I aren't coming from up north, but we might need chains just to get out of Oklahoma. See you guys Friday.

Question on Indoor Ranges

How do you guys running Indoor Matches get around the OSA regulations?

Before Clinton and the lead poison fear, our town had 5 indoor 50 foot ranges. We had 140 shooters in our NRA Position Winter League & 150 in our Pistol League.

We have ONE indoor range left and they are trying to close that.

How are you guys "getting away" with it?

Desperate shooters want to know.

Years aro I was fishing in Ontario. We had a Cree Guide. One evening after we arrived back from fishing he cleaned the fish we cought. I looked out and there was a swarm of flies around him one would not believe.

I asked him why he didn't use fly dope. He said, Flies don't bother me, I just ignore them. I think that is the best approach with OSHA. Let sleeping dogs lie or as the Japanese believe, if one doesn't look at danger it won't bother them :)
