"Hog Shoot" results, Possible new world record

Al,
The people in North Korea think the world starts and stops at their border, you guys don’t really think like them do you??

Wilbur,
To be a world record you’d like to see the same thing shot by a few countries around the world. National records are only national records. Or another way of looking at it, do you hold a national or world championships each year?

IR50 is compatible with what is being shot at a world level and the countries involved in the World Championships are forming a world governing body and genuine world records will be recognized. It’s yet to be worked out and this is just my personal view but if IR50 was a member I’d say some scores could be looked at as genuine world records. I wouldn’t think 3 gun it’s only a US domestic thing, but single or 3 target scores in sporter 10 ½ and 13lbs I couldn’t see why not. I’d like to see them hand out some good certificates and post it on line, but that is only my personal view.

Thanks for making my point, even the Guiness book of world records doesn’t recognize them as genuine world records, otherwise they'd be in there book of records wouldn't they??

Peter

Probably would be if someone would submit it. They'll take about anything.

Paul, Gene, and the Leetown target, scoring and cooking crew,
Thanks for a great weekend! You guys all consistently put on some of the best matches I've ever been to. I didn't catch the name of the guy who showed up at the range to start cooking the pork at 1am, but please pass along my appreciation for a job well done:D

Harry, Congrats on the WORLD record. I hope you are one of the few folks from the U.S. INVITED to represent us at the next World Championship.;)

World Championships

Is it true, one has to be "invited" to shoot in the "World Championship matches?

Do you have to shoot to a certain standard to be invited? Or does some committee just decide who they are going to invite?

How could one call it a "World" anything if only a select few are competing?

I recall back in the BR 50 days we had a thing called the Tournament of Champions. I think one had to win at least one state match to attend. Wasn't a bad idea, and not to take anything away from the folks that won those matches, but the matches weren't very well attended. The tournaments were only held for a couple of years and died, perhaps with BR 50. But I don't think anyone ever declared those winners to be "World Champions". I think the winner was called the "Champion of Champions".

Maybe we in the U.S. do have a different outlook on things?
