Gulf Coast Regional Match Superstars

A big thank you goes out to Tomball Gun Clubs match director Gary Walters.
We appreciate all the things Gary does to put on our matches, Gary manages the office staff and the scouts, coordinates the the lunches, takes care of the trophys, oversees the backer maintenace and setup, sets up the sound system and speakers, signs up the competitors and collects the cash and I could go on and on.

Oh by the way Gary also competes and did very well in the U/L 100 and when the match is over and Monday rolls around Gary sends the NBRSA their check and does a little write up with pics and sends it in to the NBRSA news letter.
He is also the head of the complaint department.:)

I would also like to thank Glen Oakes, Ken Starr, Felton Corbett, John Jones,
Dennis Richards, Jackie Schmidt,Trisha, and the scouts for a job well done.

The next time your at a shooting match make sure you THANK the peaple that make it all happen.

PS After all you did today you still had time to post results. Thanks again.

i'm running a little late

we are headed in from dallas, but did not get on the road till 3:30. Dad and I are on the way. Since he shoots left handad, we can share a bench. Can some one draw a bench for us? Thanks!!!

Congrats to the winners

Wow, Gary you do have a full plate !!

Thanks for posting the results yesterday.

Jay Lynn, It looks like the time we spent on my mill and surface grinder paid off. Those new Vblocks and flat piece sure fixed the tracking.
Great shooting Buddy!

In ther morning at the Unlimited 100, it was quite cool, and the humidity was pretty low. I decided to go with my big load of 133.

It shot great for 4 matches, but in match five, the tune started to go away, which cost me the yardage win. I reduced the load for the first match at 200, but to no avail. It had lots of verticle, that coupled with the brutal conditions allowed me to dig a big hole at 200 and jump in with both feet.

I then switched over to XBR, 31.2 GRNS. The load flattenned out, but it seemed extremely wind sensitive. I traded .800 of verticle for 1 inch of horizonal. This was in a strong quartering conditon that I usually can make some sense out of.

This morning, I decided that I would go with the XBR, the same 31.2 grn load. The temperature was 50 degrees at match time, and the bottom had fallen out of the humidity, as a front had come through during the night.

In a very readable condition, left to right, I put 4 shots in about a .120, but the fifth went straight to the right to open it up to a .240. I decided to go with the same load, only to then get .350 verticle. I upped the load to 31.6, and the next match produced a .280, all verticle. I then decided to switch back to 133, going with 30.3 grns. That produced a .220 cloverleaf.

At 200, I decided to use that same load, the conditions were getting really nasty. Nasty to the extent that if you could keepit under an inch, you would probably be in the hunt. The first two groups were a .600, and a .719, not really bad for the crap we were shooting into. But, it was mostly verticle. I then decided to do what I should have done in the beginning, go with my top upper end load. I nailed a .370, then a couple of flat sixes which gave me the yardage.

As a note, Glenn Chism shot XBR all week end, and had a great outing. I think his load was 31.8 grns. I never went up that high, Perhaps I should have.

We have a couple of week ends before the Crawfish. I guess, as for as I am concerned, I have more work to do.........jackie

Thanks Jackie,
Great information as usual. I deleted the second copy of your post. Keep us posted on your tuning. it is most informative. I wonder if the lot of 8208 you are using could use a little more case capacity?
