Grizz Lathe Choice

I've had mine now for 3 months and am fairly satisfied with it. Financially this was the best I could do so I'm happy. Only concern I have was the supposedly vertical adjustment of the tailstock. The manual stated that one should get .006 vertical movement when torquing it down. The best I got was .002 and its still .002 too high. Not sure how to address that problem.

When you chamber a barrel the reamer will be / should be held in a floating holder / pusher of some sort. The .002" you have wont matter, you'll be fine.

it's the same issue with any lathe I've operated, not just yours.

If you really want to be horrified, put the reamer in a jacobs chuck and indicate it to your 4 jaw.

It convinced me to cough up the $75 for a floating holder.

I'm narrowing down my Lathe selection trying to make a final choice. If was to purchase a Grizz it would be one of these. What would be your choice between these two Grizz units and why? Sorry for beating this subject to death, but I really appreciate the input.

Thanks
Justin

If your shop has 3 phase 230V, your shop floor can take the weight of the lathe, and your wallet can handle the price, I'd definitely go for the gunsmith lathe.

that's my vote. My Grizzly lathe (G0509G) has been fantastic so far so, this premium one ought to be that much better.
