Good turnout at Tomball, Nick Marino Prevails

We could not have asked for a better day to shoot at Tomball this morning. Overcast, gentle switchy breeze, 70 degrees.

We are still lacking Factory and Modified Class Shooters. One of our goals in our Club Match program is to attract shooters with real Factory or Custom Rifles, giving them a format that allows them to see just what they can do in a score format.

Anyway, we are getting a good turnout from shooters in the Benchrest Class, with 25 shooters in that class. With the mild conditions this morning, scores were typically good, and very competitive.

I got to shoot this morning because my good friend Vic Smith agreed to call the Match for me, allowing me a rare opportunity. This is the first Match I have shot in almost two years due to such a heavy work schedule at my shop. It was good to sit down and look over the flags.

The results:

Factory
Richard Hazzlewood.......130 1x

Modified:
Jay Holtorf...............249 12x
Tim Peck..................247 7x
Bill Strange..............235 5x. ( shooting a 30 WSM)

Benchrest Class:
Nick Marino..............250 23x
Jackie Schmidt..........250 22x. ( tie breaker)
Ed Bernabeo.............250 22x
Dale Metzger............250 21x
Evilio Mcdonar.........250 21x
Reynard Alexander....250 20x
Paul Dermody...........250 20x

Thanks to all who came out to shoot, and to The Tomball Gun Club.

Good shooting to all! You who shot beat all of us who did not.
Way to go, Richard, Jay, and Nick.

It's good to see you back Jackie.

I also see Paul Dermody stepped up to the Benchrest class. Good shooting Paul.

Thanks Joe. Jackie's plan worked, get 'em hooked in Factory or Modified and let the bug take over...

Lucky for me it was a very calm morning and the rifle setup was able to show me what it is capable of with a little bit of patience (still trying to get use to shooting free recoil)

After much reading and listening to Jackie and others talk about it, figured it would be hard to go wrong with a 30BR...
