Glass bedding questions....

I wonder if he ever intends to put a barreled action in them. (??) It would be a shame to cover it up.

Chad,
Do you CNC the edges of the bedding after it has cured for a while? My bedding jobs are pretty smooth but the edges are a bit ragged after I do my trimming of the edges.

Yes.

The entire process is CNC actually. Initial inletting and the secondary cleanup is all automated.

Better surface finish quality, consistent result, and its more efficient.

The trick is getting the inlets in tune to each action, floor metal, barrel contour.:D (profitably)

Chad...beautiful work...what material do you use in your vise jaws to hold the stock while milling/inletting...??
Nice two vise setup on the table...

6061 T-6 Aluminum plate.

Two gimbled jaws up front for the forend and two rigid mounts for the receiver area.

That's it. Works great. A primary inlet takes about 8 minutes on the cycle time and that includes surfacing the barrel channel. Speeds and feeds are 8K on the spindle and 300 inches/minute on everything.

The trick is tooling selection, getting the right cutter so it doesn't destroy the stock's show line. (chip outs and splinters)
