My friends:

Just came from the range.........

I took the "Shaker" and some PSL targets to play a little before I have to let my baby go....(The Shaker)

First off, this PSL target is going to "humble" a bunch of folks....it humbled me this evening....

Oh, before I proceed......I'm going to attempt to post a picture of the "Shaker" on this thread, not on my "General Discussion" thread...

Please be warned.....if you would be offended by this picture of the "Shaker", DON'T LOOK AT IT! FAIR ENOUGH!........

Anyway, I played with my baby this evening, (The Shaker)...and the new PSL target....

I did not use any flags, I never do in my tests......I shot Eley Red box, 3138...

I proceeded to shoot a pretty 2400....graded ARA....but when I graded it per the new PSL target, it only graded 2150......man!

My friends, from my tests this evening with the "Shaker", this new PSL target is going to require the absolutely best "equipment" and the absolutely best "Shooters", or you ain't going to draw a smell......

Finally, the "Shaker" is ready to be turned loose.......I'm sending another of my babies into the world of combat.........

Again, don't look at the picture if it might offend you...

I would agree with George in KY

Look forward to seeing the pictures Bill....ya gotta admit, these rifles look nice and appear to shoot pretty darn good also.

Charlie.

BC,
I thought Beau measured the target and determined that they were very, very close to the ARA target as far as the 100's and 50's (going back to the last Livonia and Wood Twp. ARA club matches of 2008). Otherwise, if the plugs don't compare....The winning scores will not be equal to the 2008 ARA winning scores. Expect winning aggs around 2100.000 or less on really good days.

Carp

Carp,

The target I had would be very very close to the same score. Bear in mind that I only had one target and I think it was one of the first ones.

Beau,
I think they will be very close, with exception that BC was shooting on an apparently good day (temp wise) but the simple fact is....it is still and will be until March....Winter. That seems to make scores worse and personalities, tempers, temperatures, ammo, focus, cabin fever, etc.:D It's simple, all the type A personalities that we are are just foaming at the mouth and the lack of competition is driving us nuts! Who said that good competition was a bad thing? It brings out the best and the worst of us all! But that is what is making the scores go up!:D See you next spring somewhere!

Carp

I was thinking along the same lines with the scores. In ARA you can miss the dot and still get 100, PSL it will be 50.

ARA Target ----.276” 25 shot group = 2500

PSL Target ----.283” 25 shot group = 2500 --.165” 25 shot group = 2500 25X

My friends:

I couldn't figure how to put the pictures on.....I did it once, a couple days ago, but, had something messed up this time......

I went over my PSL target again.......I love this target........anyway, my last four shots, almost dark, were at 3:00 and plugged 50's.....if I could lay the four bulls on top of each other they would be only one hole......but there was a faint hair of white between the plug and the dot on each, which cut my ARA score by 200 points right there.....all four shots were good ARA 100's....

I ain't no shooter.....after the first of the four shots went slightly to 3:00 a good shooter would have fudged a little left, but not me......it looks like after two shots in a row went slightly to 3:00, even a poor shooter would have fudged the next shot left slightly....but not me.......and surly after three straight shots went slightly to 3:00, in the exact same spot, an IDIOT, would have at least fudged left for the final shot.....but not me...

I'm going to shoot the Shaker one last time this evening.....the reason I ain't got a dime to my name is I can't stay away from the range.....and worse yet I've developed a taste for Red Box......

If you are having trouble posting your pictures I will be glad to host and post them for you. You would just need to email them to me. Send a few and they can be large...

Wow! Looks almost as nice as my Bucky Badger....but its not done yet, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Awesome looking rifle and knowing it shoots makes it all the better. The owner will be pleased I'm sure. Nice work Bill! Happy new year all and thanks for sharing. bob finger

It's got to be the smoke. I've noticed the same thing about fine cigars. Both high end .22 rimfire and fine cigars both end up going up in smoke and keeps a man poor.

I could be wrong but I believe Bill likes to mount the scopes that way because of the change in outside temperature causes expansion and contraction of the scope tube (which is very thin), thus causing undo stress between the mounts and the possibility of shifting the Point of Aim vs. Point of Impact.

Why . . . (?)

Bill has come up with and old idea that just may be new again. I heard about it at the First SuperShoot I attended back in 1978.

"DON'T use a one piece mount that bridges the loading port." Got something to do with heat causing expansion of different metals at different rates.

Leave it to Bill to come up with another "Upgrade".

I gota try that on one of my Suhls, when the snow melts.

Mr. Frosty :)

I don't think I would try it with Centerfire rifles. I've seen to many slow videos of a scope during recoil....kinda amazing they hold together at all.

My freinds:

My friends:

Just came from the range.............

Friend Dennis: Thank you for the offer...I had already contacted Beau to help with the pictures......man, I wish I could do them myself....I did it one time, by myself.......

My friends, so many questions, why I don't use flags, about the one piece scope attachment.......I'll try to answer all those questions some how...

But, I'm an old guy...I love making these little guns.....I love shooting them even more....

I took my little buddy, my baby, the "Shaker", to the range this evening....my baby is done, I don't need to shoot him any more, but, I love it....shooting these little fellers...

I made up my mind I would not take any red box with me.....I can't affort to drop $60 every evening, shooting red box.......

I looked through my ammo and found a box of black, 2030 at 1035 speed...about two years old.....some killer, old black.....

At the range, I set the Shaker up, set up a PSL card.......

When I first started, I thought this 2030 may not work in the Shaker.....not at this muzzle device setting anyway........(dumb thought on my part)

I kept shooting and after the 12th round, with the 2030's, the Shaker settled...

My dear friends, my dear, wonderful, BRC friends...Man, I cut a "BIG HOG" with them black 2030's, on the PSL target, I mean a "BIG HOG"!

My dear friends, I've got to let the "Shaker" go.....

Thanks again friend Dennis, and thank you Beau for posting the pictures..

Your friend, Bill Calfee
