Five in a row in 09', Calfee

Steve, I commend Eric for his approach and was honored that he let me look at his action at the 07 Shot Show. I wish him success.

b/r shooter

no i am not a professional b/r shooter i shoot in my backyard though for fun i wouldnt try to compete with any of these guys. the man complaining about my posts is no doubt not a busiessss man or probably not much of a success at much.

i do enjoy reading bills posts though and his accomplishments you just cant take away the mans success. i have been in business a very long time and been a top salesmen for many more.

i recognise talent when i see it and i respect hard drive and ambition and bill has all that. i know this he isnt afraid to fall on his face by reading some of his failures and he admits this.

as for my posts i suppose wilbur might ban me but i doubt it and you objectors to me dont have to read them at all just continue on your merry way.

i dont see any rules posted so i guess you will just have to either put up with me or ignore me either way doesnt matter to me at all.

best regards

bob

I'm gonna do an article in PS about Eric and his rifle. I'll let you all know when it's ready. Maybe this fall for a general time frame.

As for Eric, he is a humble, down to earth person. Lot's of fun to talk with, and full of good humor.

For the record.....cwop or whatever....I went to dinner with my wife last night at a bar and grill.....a very successful car salesman was sitting two seats from us trying to tell an old drunk and young college student (bartender) that Pete Rose was the greatist hitter of all time and no one would ever break his records because, in his words "do the math, he played 182 games a year and with the hits he had no one can touch him." He must have been a great car salesman....because he convinced these folks that 182 games a year was factual.....NOT.....and never mentioning that previous hitters (Ty Cobb) played less games than 162......and he was just a big fan of Pete Rose. I leave all else out of the equation.

Second.......Let's see the OUTDOOR SHOOTING for 2009 and really decide about the equipment built by any gunsmith. It comes to the shooter outdoors much more than the equipment/ammo combination. To add to this thought I will say (because I've talked with a lot of folks over the past two years that talk about guns.....shooters not part of the equation......and they say that this one is the best and that one is better....for real), I think the best gun I've ever seen shoot, from looking at scores alone and knowing the shooter and where he competed and who he competed against and what matches he won and what conditions were likely in those matches due to start time........THAT GUN RESIDES IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. And it is not a Calfee built gun, and it is not a custom action, and I truly wish that the owner would not think that I'm thinking any less of him to say.....if he figures out he wind stuff.....watch out world.

Thirdly, for whoever mentioned it. No other gunsmiths post on this board when their guns win a big match or tournament (National type or not). They may have done it in the past but it has been some time since they did so. And those that did competed also.

Fourthly, It has been a long winter and that is why folks shoot indoors I guess. But like I say....let the wind blow and the guns are meaningless. The best shooters stand out and shine. And I don't know Dan Kenimer or Mike Mullins but I do know that Mike Mullins used to list his gunsmith as himself at times and I really don't know what gun Mr. Kenimer shot and if it was a Calfee gun or not. Bill would probably know as he lives in close proximity to Mike. But apparently loyalties vary at times. I've seen others do the same. Big names! Wilbur, do what you think best. But I'm speaking the truth and we all know that. I don't care anymore about Calfee's posts about his guns.....5 in a row.....In the wind his guns seem to suffer to the best shooter. I've seen it enough to know. Bill should post after every single Livonia, Wood Township, Washington County, and Silverpoint match and tournament for the results to ensure all of us that he can't even dominate anything within an hour or an hour and a half from his own shop.

Sorry this is so long. Just bringing those that don't understand some information that may help them understand that many guns from different gunsmiths can and do compete and if you want to compete with anything other than a Calfee gun do so. You can win. You can compete. For those that are experienced. We all know that. But those who have never competed at all or even in the United States don't know. It is because of the ramblings on this board and many of it's posters that Bill feels invincible. His shooters will soon feel that pressure when they shoot where the wind blows....OUTDOORS.

Mullins

You probably know Mike Mullins shot the first official ARA 2500, even though Mike Eschleman actually shot the first one months before but the target never made it to HQ to be certified.

The way I remember it, Mike Mullins was either shooting a Calfee rifle or if not I think Mullins was working under Calfees wing showing him some of his tricks of the gunsmithing trade.

calfree again

there you go you cant defeat success. when i was startng out in the sales game i looked for and found the best salesman in the company did i have to put up with some stuff yes i did but the whole time i was studying that man and his thoughts.

the company made a mistake one time and sent me his sales reports for the week. ive always wondered it they did it on purpoxe i think thye did. anyway his paycheck for that week was 1800.00 about a normatl pay check for him. this was in the 80s big bux then.

so my thoughts if a shooter is winning all the time study him and watch see what his equipment is and dont buck the trend follow him to win.
