Fireforming 6ppc's

My hat is off to Jackie, His method is great, simple and makes a case
ready for turning. I'm a born skeptic and was sure that the neck would not
be opened completely. Wrong, well done Jackie!!!!

Hi Bob: Would you kindly re-run Jackie's method for fireforming 6mmppc brass?
Thanks,
Mike

Are you talking about shooting a 22 bullet down the barrel from a 220 case to blow it out to 6ppc?

Do you use a spare barrel for that? I was wondering if a 22 cal bullet bouncing its way down a 6mm bore was a good idea?

If that works, I wonder if .260 imp brass can be made just by firing a .243 round down the tube?

Yes, shooting a 224 bullet in a Lapua 220 russian case. Imperial sizing
die wax very light on cases. I am using an old barrel, strickly forbidden in a hummer. The barrel is a 265 neck and is headspaced .001 short of my other barrels. Works beautifully. I used sierra 63 grain semi ptd. and pushed them
down in the cases so the ogive was all that was out. I felt that would
allow the longest pressure peak. I doubt that I'll ever do it the old way again

I appreciate the kind words, but I credit James Mock for turning me on to that very simple method of turning a 220 Russian into a non-neck turned 6PPC.
I was using pistol powder and wadding, pistol powder and 22 cailber air rifle pellets, with only so-so results. It never dawned on me to just simply load the thing like it was a regular Rifle round, (22 caliber bullet), with regilar Rifle Powder and shoot it in a regular 6PPC Chamber.
So, I thank James Mock........jackie
