Can anyone set me straight?--How fire forming is done using a 6mm bullet
shot down a 30 cal barrel. When using new never fired brass - 6mm norma
Lapua brass for the 30br.

Ron, assuming a minimum headspace chamber(crush fit or maybe .001" clearance) , its as simple as shooting a perky 6BR load in the rifle. The cases don't need to be sized prior to loading, but the necks may need to be expanded if there are any dings of course. Use some kind of lubricant on the cases before firing so the brass doesn't stick to the chamber walls...I use Imperial die wax. To be honest, I don't use a bullet at all, just a sizable dose of Bullseye with a paper towel wad to hold it in place. I believe this makes the best case possible, although I don't think I could prove it on paper.

Load up a 6br and BANG! Same as you would fireform 220 russian in a 6ppc chamber. It makes for a really nice, straight case when you're done. Just don't expect to hit your target with the undersized bullet! Don't have windflags or anything downrange you don't want a bullet hole in.

I did some once

but don't remember if the bump that is made when one uses an expander is present after shooting???
