Fire forming 6PPC

???

I should know this by now, but I just recieved my first new batch of 220 russian cases to be made into 6PPC and am a bit confused about the first step. A bit back in this thread a guy said to load a .224 bullet and shoot it out of a .244 barrel? From what I gather, fireforming shapes the shoulder, but what about the neck? I have a .262 neck barrel and will need to neck turn at some point. Does a standard resizing die open the case from .224 to.244 so I can neck size? From that point, I should be fine, but I'm not quite sure of the order of steps here. Thanks in advance!

I have also gotten confused at the proper sequence of steps in prepping the brass. What I think I've gotten out of this thread so far is to:
1. Expand the 220 neck with the mandrel for your neck turning tool
2. Resize to bring the neck down so it will chamber
3. Fireform the brass
4. Neck turn to final dimensions.

I have a 7 X 10 mini lathe that I've set up to turn the necks in one pass.
My friendly dentist gave me a box of wax impression sheets so I can do the bullseye and wax method of fireforming.

I'm leaving for Raton at 0 dark 30 tomorrow morning so there will be plenty of experts there to correct me.

what the guys do when firforming before neck turning is shooting a 22 cal bullet out of the 220 Russian case down an older shot out or what they consider shot out 6mm barrel. Then they go on with the neck turning procedures.

If you tried it out of a 22 cal barrel you would have to have a special chamber reamed so that the neck area would be able to blow out to 6mm.

When

you start shooting hot the bolt lift gets hard so we full length size to fix the problem. We also use 220 brass because Lapua is the best at living in the fast lane Sako brass is good for ?????your on a BR forum where most take it to the limit and I havent seen a Sako case since I was 30 years ago.
