When going through my old reloading supplies today I discovered 2 boxes of unused Federal 30 American brass. I used this stuff (in the late 80's I think) when shooting IBS score shoots. If anyone knows if this stuff is still made, or is used by anyone, please let me know.
Thanks.

It hasn't been made for years and, yes, shooters still use it for various wildcats, most particularly the 30 Aardvark. Full boxes of original brass are becoming very collectable.

just saw your post about 30 american brass, i have 5 or 6 boxes new federal brass if some one is looking for some would consider selling for a price !!!

What is a 30 American? Can you please post a pic? I would love to see them!!!! Lee

They are nothing more than a 30-30 case with a small primer. I used them for a few years in an HBR chambering. I could not see any difference between them and the large rifle primer cases I used right beside them.

I would take it, but like Pete said, there is really nothing to be gained in accuracy in a full capacity 30-30 laoding. There might be an advantage if the case was shortened to 1.5" or so in length, but longer cases need better ignition. I would be willing to take any available, but not willing to pay more than 50 cents per case. Of course I'd pay the shipping.

A .219 Donaldson wasp could be interesting with a small primer.

Yep

A .219 Donaldson wasp could be interesting with a small primer.

Yes it would. It would be very similar to a 22 BR in capacity. I shoot a cartridge I call the 22 BRT that is based on a 6.8SPC case shortened to 1.5". It is pretty much identical to a .25" short .219 Donaldson Wasp. Personally I believe any variation of the 30-30 case is interesting. The 30-30 is an extremely versatile cartridge.

I made one and it was shot way back when Dave Brennen inspired a fun gun class
shot at the beginning of the super shoot . We called it the 220 M&K. It did win that
in a mauser action and a chromoly barrel with 28.5 grs of 4895. Case capacity was identical to the ppc. Jim Stekl had a 30-30 type case that was even shorter with no headstamp.
