Farley coaxial 2

Well Butch...you had me for a moment there!
Good to hear it arrived.Thanks.

Bill,BR is so about details, even your index finger. The slightest mistake and you can forget the 10.But that makes it interesting.I shoot a lot of disciplines from air pistol over benchrest just to bowling pins with the .45 (that's why .45 is in my nick). But benchrest is so calming, you so have to focus on shooting you forget about everything else.It defenitly has become my favourite in short time.

small update

Well...I'm still waiting for the parts from Mr.Farley.He promised them but I haven't seen a thing yet,nor does he reply my mails. Not nice.
So I contacted Mattia at Cicognani. He will order the parts and send them to me,but it could take a little time.I should have contacted him in the first place.

I also had some troubles with the front bag.One of the seams broke and hey presto all was covered in grit.It took me some work and a bit of new mollygrease but all works fine again. My edgewood bags didn't arrive yet so I've sewn up the original.

All the pieces come together

I've received a USPS mail confirming a package was sent to me from Mr.Farley.So he did send the items after all.Hopefully Belgian customs or postal services don't mess up things. They have a reputation for it.

He stands by his word after all.Strange though he didn't reply my latest mails, maybe he was too busy.

Conclusion, would I buy it again:defenitly yes!Although there are some small problems the rest is a dream.

you may want to look at the Fulghum belt drive rest. I does not have a joy stick, but it is a cadilac front rest. Just do a search of fulghum rest and see the rest and what people have to say. He also has scope rings all first class.

It sure does look the part and no doubt works fine, but I'll stick to my Farley now.I'm very pleased with it,except for the few niggles I've had.But they will be solved.

Still received nothing from Mr.Farley but it needs some time.
Today I received my edgewood front and rear bag and they sure do look the thing. My stock will now properly ride the rear bag as it's wider between the ears as my #13 Protektor.

Near perfection

Yesterday I shot my first card with the Edgewood bags and I am impressed by the combination. They complement the Farley. The stock rides much better in them, really smooth.

Result was a 250 18X,my best ever yet.(see attachment)I was 1 click to much to the right,so a lot of potential is left

So if you want a great rest:Farley coaxial II,Butch Lamberts' tension screws,Edgewood front and rear bags.Shoots like lightning.

You might also could have used a click of up or adjust your hold. Most of your shots are hitting a little bit low and very few hit high in the ten ring.

@ Butch: thanks for the compliment,it's true for the moment my annie shoots very well with this lot R50.But remember I shoot indoor, that's a lot easier than outdoor.

@ CRB: one click higher would have given 2 9's,but it's true most are a bit low.

Yesterday I received my new boots from Farley.I've installed it but I didn't fasten it with the ring and screws. Now it doesn't get pinched any more and should last longer.

Thanks to everybody on this forum who helped me out choosing this rest and giving good advice.Maybe someone else who needs a good rest will have something with this topic in the future.

Pieter.45,

Here’s a visual depiction of your shots on target and my estimation of the mathematical center of your 25 shots in relation to the center of each bull (0,0 Coordinates):
Windage = 0.029” +- 0.011”
Elevation = -0.001” +- 0.011”

It appears you’re nearly perfect with elevation and maybe only ½ click off on windage.

A very very rough estimate of your 25 shot group size is calculated to be 0.376”, but with the poor resolution of the target image I had to work with and not knowing the dimensions of the scoring rings…..I could be off by as much as 0.03” to 0.05” or more.

Very nice target :)

Thanks for the math.It confirms my thoughts,1 click up is to much (1/6 moa) resulting in 2 9's.

Targets are dia 38mm outer black ring and 10 is 6mm.They are the official targets for BR50 in Belgium (Krüger 5136 B)

Pieter,
The target to me looks like you are still getting a bit of vertical and might need a little more tuning. If you have a Harrel type tuner I’d try a Pappas noodle.

Peter

Indeed Peter,I still have a tiny bit vertical spread in shooting groups. My tuner is a Cicognani fat1.A click more or less opens up the group.

Don't forget this is a plain dead original Anschütz adapted a bit.It doesn't even have a selected barrel nor did it get a propper bedding job.

Maybe the last drop could be squized out of this lemon by installing a noodle,I'll give it a thought. However,it constantly shoots 249 250.Even in the rough.Yesterday the range was full, next to me was a family shooting in turns a 222,which gave a lot of movement in the benches.Even then I managed these scores.Indoor it could give more X's.

In the near future our range is getting expanded with outdoor lanes too, that will give some headaches riding the wind,I can't wait. But then you can need the utmost accuracy and a noodle might be needed.
