Erector lens question

If the erector lens is located at the point of adjustment, does radial
motion at the rear of the erector tube matter. Obviously a pivot point
is needed for adjustments, but does motion at the gimble joint really
weigh in here. Since the light passing thru the erector lens reaches a point
of zero, does angular changes in its axis have an effect, or just its center.

The reticle is at the rear of the erector tube, very near the point that it pivots. Radial movement of the erector tube within the pivot, is reticle movement, relative to the main tube. (I think)

If we are still talking about pre Comp series Leupold, the lens is not located exactly at the point of adjustment. It is located about 1.5 inches foward of it. Any internal movement of the erector tube, regardless of which end it occurrs, will cause a POA shift.

Boyd. The only scope I have taken apart that has the reticle actually mounted onto the erector tube is a 36x Sightron. The Leupold, Weaver, B&l, BSA and others have the Reticle firmly mounted in the scopes tube, independent of the erector tube..........jackie
