GRNC Alert 02-07-08:
Gun Rights Imperiled in Lincoln County

'RINOs' STAMPEDE IN LINCOLN COUNTY!

Question: What is the first thing you do if you are one of the increasing number of liberals moving out to the smaller more traditional counties in the extended suburbs and want to be elected to local office?
Answer: Why run as a Republican of course.

[RINO: (noun) a Republican In Name Only. Certainly applies to elected Republicans backing gun control.]

Certainly one of your first orders of business after being elected is to propose some good old fashioned gun control to keep the locals in line. That appears to be the case in traditionally conservative Lincoln County. Recently county Commissioner Marie Moore has proposed an ordinance to heavily restrict - in most cases prohibiting - the discharge of firearms within 500 feet of any building "designed to be occupied by human beings." Now, it is not certain if Moore or other commissioners are newcomers or natives, but such a move seems designed to pander to such elements.

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners is composed of five members, all elected at large with three of the seats having their terms ending in December of this year. All of the current members are Republicans - at least in name.

The ordinance begins with the pitch that as the county becomes more populated that it is "reasonable to regulate" shooting. For those who follow gun rights, the "reasonable regulation" approach should be quite familiar as it is the current mantra of gun grabbers all around the state. Among the first provisions is one making it unlawful to discharge a firearm "for the purpose of terrorizing or annoying" other people. Legal expertise is not required to know that threatening or endangering others with any weapon has been illegal from the time laws were first written, so at first blush, this proviso appears innocent enough, but you must consider this carefully. Any time a firearm is displayed of fired, it will certainly ANNOY if not outright TERRORIZE anyone who is anti-gun. Such language and tactics have been used quite effectively by gun-grabbers elsewhere in recent years.

If the RINOs succeed and you violate this ordinance, you could find yourself having twenty days to come up with $500. Fail to fork it over in that relatively short amount of time and be prepared to spend thirty days in jail. You'd best have good relations with those newcomers living out their dream of a "house in the country"... or get your checkbook ready.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

* Contact the Lincoln County Commissioners - contact info follows message - and deliver this message:

Dear Commissioner:

The recently proposed anti-gun ordinance targeting shooting within 500 feet of buildings is an affront to the character and conservative nature of the community. I call on you to stop behaving like Republicans In Name Only and respect the rural traditions of Lincoln County.

It is understandable that poorly thought out measures are sometimes put forth. I trust that this is the case and further consideration will cause you to respect the individual rights of our citizens. I will be monitoring this matter with great interest and will be influenced by its outcome during future visits to my local polling place.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Voter

a win for the good guys

Here's what happened regarding the proposed "no shooting within 500 ft of a dwelling" law.

One Lincoln County Commish, Marie Moore thought she could get cute and quietly push the anti shooting law through. She even said "our input was not needed on the matter". HMMMMM

You will be happy to know the Lincoln County shooters stood together and swamped the meeting that was pushed up in another attempt to quietly push the law through.

The law died a quick death. The lady that sponsored the proposed bill was the ONLY one to vote aye, with no regard to her constituents needs. So those of you in Lincoln County might want to remember MS. Moore the next election.
You can show her how just how much your "input" means when you vote.

Here's the link to the local newspaper article:

Congratulations on the good people of Lincoln County that refused to let the MINORITY over rule the MAJORITY

Gene,
Thanks for posting the update on this matter. You guys have a nice range there at Bullseye, and it's evident that a lot of hard work was done to make it that way. I hope the gun owners will remember to vote this lady out of office when she's up for re-election. I don't know about you, but I'd just as soon these yuppies moving out to the country and wanting to convert it to city life would stay where they came from.

Gun laws

For what it is worth, Massachusetts has had such a law on the books for many years. No discharge of firearms within 500 feet of a dwelling. Some time back, some of the law makers wanted to increase that distance. I think many states have laws regards to minimum distances for discharge of firearms. Try and keep the camel's nose out from under the tent. Good luck.

Good on ya guy's ! now that's puttin the "A" back in America and the "F" back in Freedom, the "L" back in Liberty. Thank you for your alertness in support for all " citizens of interest" !
